ABOUT THE DEVICE

The optical radio module for Novator water meter enables the remote data collection from the metering equipment. In the event of low battery level, attempted magnetic tampering, unsanctioned removal, or flow reversal, the module alerts the Jooby RDC Dashboard about it. The readings are delivered to the server over a LoRaWAN® network. This wireless data transmission module for water meters is a simple and affordable solution for enterprises, developers, housing cooperatives, utility companies, and management companies. The device enables the reduction of utility consumption tracking costs, automation of meter reading collection, and availability of accurate water consumption data.

HOW IT WORKS

The module is installed on the body of the meter, secured with a clamping screw, and activated with a short magnetic pulse as well as in the Jooby mobile app. The entire process takes only a few minutes, with no dismantling of the meter required. The module’s pulse counter gathers data with an optical sensor that registers the meter’s dial rotation. The sensor captures one full turn of the dial, generates a pulse, and sends it to the data transmission subsystem. The readings are delivered to the server over a LoRaWAN® network. The data is also kept in the module’s built-in non-volatile memory over the following periods for redundancy:
  • 1 month for hourly consumption
  • 4 months for daily consumption
The information can be submitted to the server either hourly or daily, depending on the customer’s preferences. The module is powered by a high-capacity battery which ensures 5 to 15 years of continuous operation.
